Local Charities Make up for a Cause

After attending "A Day at the Spa" held by the Alachua County Heatlth Department here in Gainesville, I was inspired to do more. The event was held for women who are living with HIV/AIDS in the community. As a make-up artist, I got the chance to make a difference in these women's lives. They were so happy to see themselves all made up! The event had a motivation speaker, facials, massages, nailcare, and food (of course). This event, which took about 2 1/2 hours, made such a difference. We need more events like this in our communities!

Below is a link to a similar event that took place. The Health Department will release its newsletter next week. So look for more information on the event!

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE BLACK OR WHITE! (Michael J tune) :)

One of the most impressive things about MAC Cosmetics is it's ability to cater to so many skins types and colors. As an artist, the most self-assuring aspect of working for the company is knowing that I can provide for EVERYONE, no matter how light or dark. Often you walk in a store such as Walmart and the foundation selection is limited and unrealistic. MAC allows customers to try on the foundation and with the broad ranges of colors and research the company does to make sure they include all possibilites, it's no wonder MAC is the leading cosmetic company.

The following article talks about research on makeup styles, techniques and different hinderances to shopping for makeup. It's an interesting perspective because it makes you wonder how companies feel when they know they lose customers because they can't produce products. Check out this article for the Williamsport Sun Gazette.

Another impressive thing about MAC is the company monitors the market to know what sells the most. The company also launches special products for types of skin. For example, the company is launching a lightening system for ASIA only. Some of the products will be available in MAC PRO Stores. MAC is also launching a primer with SPF15.
